Overview

Resources are the foundation of everything in Once Human — you need them for crafting, building, upgrading, and quest progression. Knowing where to find each ore and material efficiently saves hours of grinding.

All ore nodes respawn after 5-15 minutes depending on the ore type. Higher rarity ores have longer respawn timers. Use a pickaxe of at least the same tier as the ore to mine it efficiently — a stone pickaxe on iron ore takes 3x longer and has a chance to break the node without yielding ore.

Getting Started

Wood, stone, and fiber are the most basic resources but also the most consumed. Efficient gathering routes make a huge difference in your progression speed.

Wood

Wood comes from trees. Different tree types yield different amounts:

  • Small trees (bushes): 2-3 wood, 1 fiber. 1 hit with axe. Found everywhere.
  • Medium trees (pine/oak): 5-8 wood, 2 fiber. 3 hits with axe. Found in forests.
  • Large trees (ancient): 15-20 wood, 5 fiber. 8 hits with axe. Found in deep forests, respawn 20 min.

Best wood farming route: Find a dense forest zone with medium trees. Chop in a circular pattern — by the time you return to the start, the first trees have respawned. Bring 2 spare axe heads.

Stone

Stone comes from rocks and boulders. Found in rocky terrain, riverbeds, and caves.

  • Small rocks: 2-3 stone. 1 hit with pickaxe. Found everywhere.
  • Medium boulders: 8-12 stone. 4 hits. Found on hills and cliffs.
  • Large rock formations: 25-35 stone. 12 hits. Found in mountain zones, respawn 15 min.

Fiber

Fiber comes from bushes, tall grass, and certain plants. Used for rope, cloth, bandages, and building. Gather by hand or with a sickle (unlocks at level 8, 2x fiber yield).

Step by Step

Stardust is the most valuable rare resource in Once Human. It's used for advanced crafting, Deviant upgrades, Cradle enhancements, and endgame equipment. Stardust comes from three sources:

    1. Stardust Nodes: Glowing blue crystal formations found in specific zones. Mine with a Steel pickaxe (T3). Each node yields 3-8 Stardust. Respawns every 20 minutes. Nodes are located in: Abyssal Caves, Crystal Peak, and the Void Rift zone.
    2. World Event Rewards: Hard world events and instanced bosses have a 15-30% chance to drop Stardust as a bonus reward. Higher difficulty = higher drop chance. Heroic dungeons guarantee 5-10 Stardust per clear.
    3. Deviant Dissolution: Dissolving duplicate or unwanted Deviants at the Deviant Analyzer yields Stardust based on rarity: Common=1, Uncommon=3, Rare=8, Epic=20, Legendary=50. Only dissolve duplicates — never dissolve your only copy of a useful Deviant.

Stardust spending priority: 1) Cradle permanent upgrades (always valuable), 2) Legendary weapon crafting, 3) Epic/Legendary Deviant upgrades, 4) Cosmetics (last priority).

Pro Tips & Common Mistakes

✅ Pro Tips

  • Always use the correct tool tier — a T1 pickaxe on T2 ore takes 3x longer and may break the node.
  • Mark rich resource nodes on your map — you can set custom waypoints to remember good farming spots.
  • Use gathering food before farming sessions — dishes like Roasted Meat give +15% gathering yield for 30 min.
  • Invest in the Gathering skill tree early — Double Gather chance and node respawn reduction pay off massively.
  • Bring a friend for resource farming — you can split up and cover more ground, then share the loot.

⚠️ Avoid These Mistakes

  • Don't mine high-tier ore with a low-tier pickaxe — you'll waste time and may get nothing.
  • Don't forget to repair your tools — a broken tool gathers at 10% efficiency.
  • Don't spend Stardust on cosmetics before buying permanent Cradle upgrades.
  • Don't farm in PvP zones without being prepared — resource-rich areas are common ambush spots.
  • Don't leave resource nodes partially mined — a partially depleted node takes longer to respawn.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find copper and tin? +

Copper is most commonly found in riverbeds and rocky hills — look for orange-brown rock formations near water. The best early copper zone is the Southern Riverbank, where you can find 8-12 copper nodes in a small area. Tin is found on beaches and in lowland caves — look for silver-gray rocks near coastlines. The Western Shore has the densest tin deposits in early game zones. Both ores can be mined with a Stone pickaxe (T1) and respawn every 5 minutes. Bring at least 2 spare pickaxe heads when farming — they break fast on ore nodes.

How do I get pure quartz? +

Pure Quartz is a tier-3 ore that requires a Steel pickaxe to mine efficiently. It's found in Crystal Caves (underground), on high mountain peaks (above 200m elevation), and in the Void Rift endgame zone. Each Pure Quartz node yields 2-5 quartz and respawns every 15 minutes. The most accessible early source is the Crystal Cave entrance in the Northern Mountains — bring torches and be prepared for enemy encounters inside. Pure Quartz is used for electronics, solar panels, and advanced crafting — it's the bottleneck for mid-to-late game progression, so farm it whenever you find a node.
