Overview

The Cradle system is Once Human's unique cross-season progression mechanic. Unlike most survival games where everything resets at the end of a season, the Cradle allows you to permanently carry over specific upgrades, items, and progress to future seasons.

Think of the Cradle as your permanent stash — anything stored in it before a season reset is available in the next season. This includes: Cradle upgrades (permanent stat boosts), stored Deviants, exclusive cosmetics, and certain crafting materials marked as 'Cradle-bound'.

Cradle upgrades are the most valuable permanent progression. They provide account-wide bonuses like +5% gathering speed, +3% weapon damage, +10 slot capacity, and faster respawn timers. These upgrades are purchased with Cradle Shards, earned from seasonal challenges, boss kills, and the seasonal battle pass.

Key rule: Always transfer your most valuable Deviants and gear to the Cradle at least 24 hours before a season reset. Anything left in seasonal storage is permanently lost.

Getting Started

Once Human operates on a seasonal server system. Each season lasts approximately 30 days and introduces new content, balance changes, and a fresh start for all players on seasonal servers.

What resets each season: Character level, seasonal inventory, territory and base, seasonal currency, quest progress, and map exploration.

What carries over: Cradle upgrades, Cradle-stored Deviants and items, account level, cosmetics, and friend list.

Season phases:

  1. Phase 1 (Days 1-10): Fresh Start. Everyone starts from level 1. Focus on fast leveling and establishing your territory. Early bird players get first access to resource nodes and boss spawns.
  2. Phase 2 (Days 11-20): Progression. Most players reach mid-game. World events and instanced bosses become active. This is the best time to farm gear and Deviants.
  3. Phase 3 (Days 21-30): Endgame & Preparation. Endgame content unlocks. Start transferring valuable items to the Cradle. Complete seasonal challenges for maximum Cradle Shards.

Server types: PvE servers (no player damage, recommended for beginners), PvP servers (open world combat, higher risk/reward), and Novice servers (reduced difficulty, limited to players below level 20).

Step by Step

Leveling fast in Once Human is about prioritizing the right activities at each stage. Follow this XP optimization route:

    1. Levels 1-10: Main story quests. Story quests give the most XP per minute in early game. Complete them exclusively until level 10. Don't waste time on gathering or side quests yet.
    2. Levels 10-20: World events + gathering. Once you have basic gear, participate in every world event you can reach. Each event gives 500-2000 XP plus loot. Combine with resource gathering while traveling between events.
    3. Levels 20-30: Instanced bosses + daily challenges. At level 20, instanced bosses unlock and give massive XP (2000-5000 per kill). Complete daily challenges for bonus XP and Seasonal Coins. Run dungeons with a team for efficiency.
    4. Levels 30+: Endgame grind. Heroic dungeons, world bosses, and seasonal challenges are your primary XP sources. Focus on completing the seasonal battle pass for exclusive rewards.

    Mimic Point spending priority:

    TreeEarly Game (1-15)Mid Game (16-30)Late Game (31+)
SurvivalGathering speed, crafting efficiencyFood duration, water efficiencyMax stamina, fall damage reduction
CombatWeapon damage, reload speedCrit chance, armor penetrationElemental damage, ultimate cooldown

Pro Tips & Common Mistakes

✅ Pro Tips

  • Always complete daily challenges — they give 2x XP on weekends and reset every 24 hours.
  • Join a team for world events — shared XP means everyone levels faster.
  • Use XP-boosting food before farming sessions — cooked dishes can give +10-25% XP for 30 minutes.
  • Prioritize Cradle upgrades that benefit all future seasons — gathering speed and XP boosts are always valuable.
  • Set a reminder 48 hours before season end to transfer everything to the Cradle.

⚠️ Avoid These Mistakes

  • Don't spend all Mimic Points on Combat early — Survival and Gathering skills speed up your overall progression more.
  • Don't forget to transfer items to the Cradle before season reset — seasonal inventory is permanently deleted.
  • Don't ignore the seasonal battle pass — it gives more Cradle Shards than any other activity.
  • Don't stay on a Novice server past level 20 — you'll be forcibly moved and lose your territory.
  • Don't waste Cradle Shards on cosmetics before buying all permanent stat upgrades.

Frequently Asked Questions

What carries over between seasons? +

The following carry over permanently via the Cradle system: Cradle upgrades (permanent stat boosts like gathering speed, weapon damage, slot capacity), Cradle-stored Deviants and items, account level and achievements, all cosmetics and skins, your friend list and clan membership, and Cradle Shards currency. The following reset every season: character level, seasonal inventory and gear, territory and base buildings, seasonal currency (Seasonal Coins), quest and story progress, and map exploration. Always transfer valuable items to the Cradle before a season ends.

How do I level up fast in Once Human? +

The fastest leveling route is: levels 1-10, exclusively complete main story quests (highest XP per minute). Levels 10-20, participate in every world event and combine with gathering while traveling. Levels 20-30, run instanced bosses with a team and complete daily challenges. Always use XP-boosting food (+10-25% XP for 30 min), join a team for shared XP, and complete daily challenges which give 2x XP on weekends. Avoid side quests and excessive gathering before level 10 — they give poor XP compared to story quests.
